training and career paths

Gain practical experience while pursuing a formal education and kickstart your engineering career

Our degree apprenticeship offers a pathway to becoming a skilled professional, where you’ll gain invaluable on-the-job training alongside your academic qualifications.

The programme is structured to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, ensuring apprentices are well-prepared for the challenges of the nuclear and engineering sectors.

As apprentices progress, they’ll have the opportunity to work on diverse projects and build a wide range of skills. This mix of training and career development sets our apprentices on the path to becoming leaders in their fields.

Timeline

Our apprenticeship spans five years, guiding you through every step of your journey to becoming a qualified engineer

Our IET-accredited apprenticeship offers a clear and structured timeline, progressing from foundational skills to more advanced engineering competencies. Over five years, apprentices will gain their HNC, HND and Level 6 Nuclear Engineer Apprenticeship plus a BEng in their chosen discipline, positioning them for a successful career in the nuclear industry. Our dedicated team ensures that apprentices have everything they need to succeed.

We provide continuous support throughout the apprenticeship journey, and it doesn’t stop once our apprentices achieve their BEng; we offer regular opportunities for learning and development as they move through their careers, through exposure to a broad range of projects and training courses.

You need to have achieved a minimum of Level 5 in GCSE maths (ideally in science and English too). With regards to your Level 3 qualification, we don’t mind if you’ve gone down the A-Level, BTEC or T-Level route, provided that you are on track to achieve/have already achieved a grade B. Preferred subjects include engineering, maths and science but as long as you are achieving strong grades and can demonstrate a passion for engineering, we will consider your application regardless of your chosen subjects!
Once you’ve submitted your application, if you seem like a good fit for us, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview with our engineering managers. If successful, you will be asked to come in and meet more of the team in a final interview.
Make sure to proof-read your initial application – no recruiter likes to see their company’s name misspelled! Prepare well for your interviews by researching Tenet, using the STAR method to showcase your achievements and prepare a couple of interesting questions for our interviewers.
