Our journey so far

Established in 2005, we are a leading consultancy firm dedicated to delivering innovative solutions to the nuclear and renewable energy industries

2005The Beginning
Tenet was founded in 2005 by Mike Thirsk, starting as a private development company focused on property renovations.
2006A New Chapter
In 2006, Tenet expanded its reach with the acquisition of DATS’ Engineering Consultancy division, leading to the formation of Tenet Consultants.
2007A Growing Presence
With ISO 9001 certification under our belt and a growing portfolio of high-profile nuclear clients, Tenet moved to a larger office at Thompson House on Birchwood Park (now 401 Faraday Street). Our client base at this time included industry giants like Amec, BNFL, Magnox, and Mott MacDonald.
2009Expanding Horizons
Our commitment to quality and a “right first time” approach helped Tenet secure additional high-profile clients, including Urenco UK, Atkins, NDA, Yokogawa, and Springfields Fuels Ltd.
2011A New Phase of Growth
In 2011, Tenet’s success prompted another move to larger offices in 401 Faraday St, continuing our organic growth and attracting top-tier talent. This expansion allowed us to continue supporting major projects, including the Sellafield Design Services Alliance.
2013Strengthening Foundations
With clients like Costain, NESL, Cavendish, and Nuvia, Tenet restructured to meet growing demand and ensure the continued satisfaction of our clients. This included enlarging our office space to better accommodate our expanding workforce and strategic nuclear client base.
2018Setting New Standards
By 2018, Tenet had restructured and invested heavily in niche expertise, becoming one of the first consultancies to earn BAFE accreditation for fire services design – a true mark of our evolving capability.
2019A Bold New Vision
In 2019, Tenet crafted a new strategic vision for growth, focusing on delivering exceptional design engineering and consultancy services. We expanded into other highly regulated industries, enhanced our Mechanical and Project Management capacity, and aimed to provide a varied and enriching experience for our team.
2022Laying the Foundation for the Future
The success of our 2019 strategy led to significant growth in our mechanical and project management teams. With a more diverse client base and expanded engineering resources, we were ready to tackle increasingly complex, multi-disciplinary projects. This growth solidified the foundation for even greater achievements ahead.
2024New Welsh Office
In 2024, Tenet opened offices in M-SParc, Anglesey, strategically providing us with access to top local talent and the emerging nuclear hub that is North Wales.
2025Expansion and Celebration
In 2025, Tenet celebrated 20 years of innovation and impact with a landmark anniversary and laid the groundwork for the next chapter - expanding our presence in Wales and building on two decades of bold ideas and brilliant people.
